Brit O'Brien is a photographer, creative producer, and organizer whose work explores how people connect with music and with one another. Over the last decade, she has documented artists and audiences from inside the independent music scene, touring internationally and creating an intimate visual archive of modern music culture. Her photography has been exhibited through books, zines, galleries, and editorial publications, always with a focus on preserving the emotional texture of candid/messy human experiences. In 2025, O'Brien expanded that concept beyond photography by founding Little Negative, a creative hub focused on thoughtful, participatory experiences that bring people together in unexpected ways.
Its first production, ABOUT MY FRIEND, is a live event where people nominate a friend to be introduced on stage to a venue full of strangers. Instead of pitching themselves, participants are celebrated by the people who know them best. Somewhere between a live show, a social experiment, and a community gathering, the event invites audiences to meet offline, cheer for one another, and gush over the power of friendship! Since launching, the series has sold out in Los Angeles and New York while earning national recognition from outlets including USA Today, Los Angeles Times, Gothamist, KCRW, and Dazed, which described the project as offering a refreshing alternative to dating apps by letting "your closest friends do the selling for you." Across both photography & live experiences, O'Brien's work shares a common purpose… documenting and creating spaces where authentic relationships can flourish.
